I am developing a podcast exploring animal ethics, veterinary medicine, and our broader relationships with nonhuman animals. The podcast will feature conversations with veterinarians, researchers, philosophers, and other experts, with the goal of making complex ethical and scientific ideas accessible to a general audience. I have begun recording interviews and am looking for someone with podcast production and/or audio editing experience to help me turn an initial interview into a polished pilot episode that can serve as a proof of concept for the project. I can do the initial content edit myself, including reviewing the transcript and identifying the material I would like to include. I am primarily looking for help with the next stage of production, which could include: Helping shape and structure the rough cut into an engaging episode Professional audio editing and cleanup Identifying where additional narration or transitions may be helpful Incorporating an intro/outro and music Sound design and transitions, where appropriate Mixing and mastering the final episode The first goal is to produce one approximately 20–30 minute pilot episode. I am currently developing the project independently and hope to use the pilot to seek funding for future episodes.

Our mission

I am a veterinarian and am currently returning to school to pursue graduate work in animal ethics. Through studying animal ethics and becoming more involved in this community, I have become increasingly aware of what I see as a significant gap in veterinary medicine when it comes to critically examining questions about what is right and wrong in our relationships with animals. I think a similar gap exists within the general public. The podcast aims to help bridge that gap by bringing conversations from animal ethics, philosophy, veterinary medicine, psychology, and science to both veterinary professionals and a broader public audience. I hope to explore some of the foundational beliefs and assumptions that shape how we think about animals, as well as the psychological and social factors that help explain why we treat different animals in such different ways. Ultimately, I hope the podcast can contribute to change within the veterinary profession while also making ideas from animal ethics accessible to people who may never encounter them in an academic setting, encouraging more thoughtful reflection about how and why we relate to animals as we do.
