Description

The Tiger Sanctuary Vietnam is a new initiative to establish a world-class sanctuary for tigers rescued from Vietnam's tiger farms, while also strengthening wildlife welfare, veterinary capacity and conservation efforts within Vietnam. I am looking for an experienced nonprofit strategist, founder or organisational leader to act as a thought partner as we develop the organisation's founding strategy and roadmap. This is not a request to write a strategic plan on my behalf. Rather, I am looking for someone who enjoys asking difficult questions, challenging assumptions, identifying risks and helping shape an ambitious idea into a robust, evidence-based organisation. Working together, we would develop the organisation's strategic foundations, which may include: • refining the mission, vision and long-term objectives • developing a Theory of Change and strategic framework • identifying key assumptions, risks and decision points • mapping a realistic phased roadmap from concept through to rescue operations • helping prioritise the many opportunities and challenges involved in building a new organisation. I have worked in animal welfare and wildlife conservation for more than 25 years, including the past decade as Country Director for the leading iNGO in Vietnam. The project already has strong momentum, with funding secured for an initial feasibility study and volunteer advisors already contributing expertise in veterinary medicine, tiger husbandry, government relations and wildlife conservation. I'm looking for someone who enjoys strategic thinking, constructive challenge and collaborative problem-solving. My hope is that together we can build an organisation with the clarity, governance and strategic foundations needed to create lasting impact for tigers. https://thetigersanctuary.org/

Our mission

The Tiger Sanctuary Vietnam is a charity being established to protect tigers and improve wildlife welfare in Vietnam through rescue, sanctuary, veterinary care, conservation and education. Working alongside government agencies, conservation organisations and local communities, we aim to provide lifelong care for rescued tigers while also supporting the rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and, wherever possible, release of native wildlife rescued from the illegal wildlife trade. Through collaboration, scientific evidence and high standards of animal welfare, we seek to build lasting conservation outcomes and strengthen Vietnam's capacity to protect its wildlife.
