Hello from Seattle! We're currently working on a project to help transition restaurants to have better or more vegan/plant-based options. Check this out here! https://www.animalprojectbuddies.com/menus (sorry it's not really mobile-friendly yet!). Motivation: A lot of restaurants don't have good vegan options (i.e., thrown-together last-minute, requiring a LOT of substitutions/requests). Menu items like this perpetuate the stigma that vegan / plant-based food doesn't taste good, and substitutions/requests raise the barrier-to-entry for plant-based eating. There's also a big question of what exactly vegan means! Goals: Reach out to restaurants and see what the major pain points are around including plant-based options on their menu (have they tried it before? Is there demand for plant-based options? Is inventory an issue? What was their strategy to market these items?) Improve the project around the needs of restaurants to go more plant-based or feature sample plant-based menus (i.e. curate the website more around pain points -- like learning plant-based recipes that fit their restaurant/cuisine/existing inventory, educating on things like pricing sustainably & marketing, adapting the existing recipes for restaurant preparation which is different from home cooking, and highlighting things like the NECTAR study, etc.). Reach out to restaurants and help them with this guide Asks For this Role: - Help curate and add recipes from various cuisines and backgrounds - Help reach out and connect to local restaurants to start building connections and understand underlying issues - Assist with any of the other goals in a way you can! prefer: general enthusiasm around food/local businesses, or business/marketing skills for product-market fit: if you know anyone who is a restaurant owner willing to be surveyed/interviewed, please let me know!
